- Entry fee of $50 due at first practice (check, cash or will take debit/credit cards) or secure your spot now by using our preferred method of payment: VENMO @hopkinscofair. Add $2.00 convenience charge.
- If you change your mind and decide not to be in the pageant, call or send a message.
- Deadline to register is July 19, 2025. Registering after this date is based on availability. Form will be turned off. Please call.
Practice Times
Practice is an important process of the pageant. Only two practices are scheduled this year. Please make plans to attend.
What to Wear to Practice
Dress to practice is casual; however, you may want to bring shoes you will wear in the pageant to practice.
Practice #1 – Tuesday, July 29, 5-7 pm
- Entry Fees are due before we start.
- Order of appearance will be drawn.
- Group picture taken.
- Walking on stage and introductions will be presented with time to practice. Be sure to include the name of sponsor during introduction. No introductions will be made during evening gown appearance.
- Miss Congeniality will be explained to contestants.
- Parent/legal guardian meeting question/answer session.
Sample Introduction: “Sponsored by my parents, I am contestant number 7, Hannah Marie Montana.”
Practice #2 – Thursday, July 31, 5-7 pm
- Professional photography order forms will be made available.
- Interview times will be posted.
- Comparative turns and announcement of winners will be explained.
- If time allows, contestant may practice introduction and walk.
How the Queen will be Chosen
Judging takes place in three areas: 30 points for interview, 30 points for casual wear, 40 points for evening gown
Comparative judging will be held in groups of 8, if 24 girls are participating.
Arrival
Fairgrounds and Convention Center. Arrive no earlier than 30 minutes before interview. Contestants will be allowed entry free of charge. Enter through the Morton Avenue Gate. Please park in normal fair parking outside the gate, not around the building or inside the gate areas. The fair officials ask for you to not drive into the fairgrounds, not even for loading/unloading.
Interview time depends on contestant number and could begin as early as 3:00 pm on Monday, August 5, 2024. Interviews are closed and will be held in the Midway Building. Holding will be in the dressing room until contestant number is called. Interviews will be short, in front of a panel of three judges. Times will be announced during 2nd practice.
Contestant will wear an official black pageant t-shirt ($15.00) and choice of shorts, pants, skort, etc. and shoes. This will be worn for the interview and first walk on stage (casual wear/introduction). Pay for your shirt via VENMO by choosing friends and family to @LKathleen-Carver.
Dressing Room area will have assigned contestant spaces. No need to arrive early for a spot. Your number will be taped on the wall where your area will be. Please be respectful of those around you and share space and electric outlets.
When interviews conclude (around 6 pm), contestant will check-in behind the stage, pick up number to wear on left hip and vote for Miss Congeniality.
Photography orders may be submitted at this time.
Due to lack of space, one (1) person will be allowed in the dressing room with the contestant. Please arrive with their casual outfit on and ready for first appearance. We will have helpers in the back to assist contestants.
Only contestants and fair officials are allowed behind the stage in the Midway Building at any time.
Please have your contestant in the dressing room, ready, no later than 6:30 pm before pageant starts.
Stage Appearances
At 6:55 pm contestants will line up in numerical order behind the stage.
Pageant (7:00 pm)
Sportswear Attire Portion
Contestant will wear an official black pageant t-shirt ($15.00) and choice of shorts, pants, skort, etc. and shoes. This will be worn for the interview and first walk on stage (casual wear/introduction). Introductions by the contestant and the biography page will be read by the announcer.
Evening Gown Portion
Please choose a long, age-appropriate evening gown.
Awards
Awards to be announced: Miss Congeniality, 2nd Runner Up, 1st Runner Up, and Winner. The winner must be willing and able to represent Hopkins County at the 2024 Miss Pre-Teen Kentucky County State Fair Pageant.
The Kentucky County Fair State Preteen Pageant will be held Friday and Saturday, October 17 and 18, 2025, at the Crowne Plaza in Louisville, Kentucky. More information about the state pageant is available at www.kafs.net or 2025 Fall Conference (Miss Teen & Pre-Teen) (kafs.net)
